The famous Esterhazy cake is a patisserie speciality with tradition. It was created by pastry chefs from Budapest in the fin de siècle era during the Habsburg monarchy and was named after Paul III Anton Esterhazy de Galantha, a foreign minister of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
The individual layers are made of finest hazelnut sponge cake and marvellous butter cream with hazelnut nougat. The top is then glazed with the famous Esterhazy pattern.
